The disagreement that has generated a quarrel between the Methodist Church and the Muslim community in the country concerning Wesley Girls Senior High School authorities refusal to rescind its decision to disallow some students from fasting in the month of Ramadan.

The Methodist Church Ghana, Christian Council and The Catholic Bishop Conference have backed the school’s decision.

This has raised concerns about religious discrimination by the Muslim community and the Muslim Caucus in Parliament.

Soireenews sort from the general public what they look out for before choosing a school.

To some, if the school performs well academically, they do not care about its religious affiliation.

Others also believe the school their wards attend must be in line with their religion to always ensure their beliefs will be strengthened and not only for academic purposes.

Meanwhile, the chief of Henekrom in the Nsoatre Traditional Area of the Bono region, Nana Hinneh Asumah in an interview with Soireenews noted that the National House of Chiefs should intervene to solve the issue.

He believes President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo and his Vice, Dr Alhaji Bawumia have been silent due to their diverse religious affiliation hence the need for the House of Chiefs to take up the issue to resolve it.
