The Member of Parliament for Yendi, Honourable  Farouk Aliu Mahama has made a donation of one thousand(1000) bags of rice to the Muslim community in his constituency, as the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan draws to an end.

The donation aims to ease pressure on the constituents and make the upcoming Islamic festivity, eid-ul-Fitr struggle free celebration by both the poor and the rich.

"The huge donation is in consonance with my desire to enable the needy Muslims and their families to undertake the big celebration with ease and joy.

"The festival is considered as an indispensable spiritual event on the Islamic calendar". Alhaji Farouk said.

According to him, the rice would be carefully distributed to party faithful, opinion leaders and chiefs, youth and women groups and the Islamic clerics (ulemas).

Alhaji Farouk urged all Muslims to endeavour to share the little they have so as to enable the underprivileged to enjoy the eid.

He assured that Ramadan and Eid's festival is so dear to Muslims, hence his decision to continue to assist the constituents.

The MP maintains that it is his bid to nurture, grow, sustain and maintain the popularity of the party in the Yendi Constituency, a seat the New Patriotic Party(NPP) has held since 1992.

Alhaji Farouk also urged Muslim celebrants, particularly those in Yendi to continue to use the blessings of the eid to pray for continued peace and tranquillity in the town.
