2023 Budget: E-Levy reduced to 1% – Ofori-Atta

Following the deliberate mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy by the Akufo Addo led administration coupled with the excessive burden intendtionally imposed on the citizens, the finance minister has reduced the abnoxious Electronic Transaction Levy to 1%.

The e-levy, which was pegged at a 1.5% with a daily threshold of GHS100.00 but it appears same had been thrown to the dogs.

This has instigated complains among the citizenry.

It is in view of that the government has indicated a reduction in the headline rate of the controversial Electronic Transfer Levy to 1 percent from the current 1.5 percent.

The review of the act, according to the government is to drive aggressive mobilisation of domestic revenue.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta disclosed while presenting the 2023 budget statement in parliament on Thursday.

The review forms part of a “seven-point agenda aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability and accelerating our economic transformation".

Meanwhile, he indicated that the daily threshold would be reviewed.

The headline rate of the E-Levy has seen several reviews from the original 1.75 percent rate to the 1.5 percent further reduction amid protests.
