Tax experts in Techiman, the Bono East Regional capital have entreated politicians not to politicize tax mobilization in the country since it is basic funding for the nation’s development.
A Charted Accountant, Mr. Prince Joseph Soregana, and Mr. Sarpong Francis, Manager of Techiman BACCSOD Bank speaking to SN24 News revealed that the development of Ghana largely depends on revenue mobilization.
Commenting on the introduction of Sanitation and Covid-19 levies which were mentioned in the 2021 budget, the duo said no government can govern a country without taxes and borrowing therefore the introduction of the new levies, the move the tax experts said will benefit all Ghanaians.
The duo however appealed to all eligible taxpayers to embrace the new tax system because if the taxes are paid well, “there will come a time where Ghana will be self-sufficient and the nation won't borrow money from the IMF or any other country.”
