A warrant for the arrest of a well-known Zimbabwean author

Author Tsitsi Dangarembga of Zimbabwe has a warrant out for her arrest, according to her attorney, after she skipped court on charges of inciting violence.

The attorney claimed that his client had missed court due to illness and was seeing a doctor in Germany.

After being detained in 2020 for organizing an anti-government protest in Harare, Dangarembga was released on bail.

She was named to the Booker Prize shortlist in 2018 and her debut book Nervous Conditions won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. A BBC panel also named Nervous Conditions as one of the top 100 books that changed the world.

The author has requested that the lawsuit be dismissed due to a lack of evidence.
