The Ahafo Regional Minister, Honourable George Boakye has paid a visit to the disaster victims at the St. Elizabeth Hospital at Hwidiem as well as families of seven (7) persons who lost their lives as a result of the unfortunate electrocution.

Last Friday's night thunderstorm at Amanfrom near Hwidiem in the Asutifi South District resulted in the distraction of properties running into several thousands of cedis.

The strong winds also destroyed electric poles which led to some live wires dumped on the roof of a nearby house.

Seven (7) persons were pronounced dead on arrival whiles five (5) others are currently responding to treatment at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem.

Honourable George Boakye whilst commiserating with affected parties as well as the bereaved families assured them of Government's full support to all the affected parties.

He further assured that his office will specifically put mechanisms in place in order to support the education of children of the deceased.

The Minister was accompanied by the District Chief Executive for the Asutifi South, Honourable Robert Dwomoh Mensah, and teams from the Regional and District NADMO offices.
