About 3 streams serving the communities from Onwe Nkwanta to Onwe have dried up with the people left with nowhere to get water.

For the past few days, women have adopted a method of digging holes within the enclave of the streams hoping that they hit the water but that has not yielded any result.

This has forced the Opinion leaders and farmers of the area to mobilize and dig further for water and are currently battling with pigs and other domestic animals for that water or they have to walk 5 to 7 Kilometres to Nkrankrom or Goaso for water.

People living at Onwe  Nkwanta and Onwe near Goaso Nkrankrom are Cocoa farmers in the  Asunafo North of Ahafo Region with about 240 households and a population of more than 2,000 currently do not have water.

Even though water shortage is an annual case issue in the area the situation has worsened this year.

Some Cocoa Farmers spoke  to newsmen during a visit to the area to witness the numerous complaints by the farmers

The people, therefore, appeal to the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly for a borehole to enable them to get access to potable water to drink.
