Following the breakdown of the ferryboat on the Amanfrom in the Eastern Region three days ago, the Volta River Authority has deployed another pontoon from Akosombo to help convey the stranded travellers on the Afram River in Ekye Amanfrom of Kwahu South district to Adawso.

The ferry arrived a few minutes after 10 pm last night and has started its operations since and expected to sail on the Afram river 6 times daily with a maximum capacity of 350 tons each trip.

The authorities revealed that this ship will be operating with a normal two engines and they hope it works assiduously in the coming days to help reduce the congestions on the river and the risks of using engine boats which many times involves in accidents.

Before the arrival of the Akosombo commuter boat, the Canoe engine boats had already reduced the congestions by conveying many traders from Ekye Amanfrom to Adawso, both communities in the Kwahu Afram Plains South to save traders of losing huge monies through the rotting of their commodities such as tomatoes, meat, and foodstuffs.
