Call Dampare to Order SNFL to Akufo Addo

Following what he describes as dwindling professionalism and lack of leadership in the Ghana Police Service(GPS), the Founder and President of Save the Nation for Future Leaders(SNFL), Mr. Kwadwo Atta Appeakorang has petitioned the president.

His call, he said was to restore hope, confidence, and trust in the service by Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians.

Being a civil-society organization championing the well-being of the nation to ensure the protection and preservation of the respect, dignity, and authority of the organs and systems within the social, governance, educational, economic landscape and architecture of the country.

As part of its mandates, it ensures that all impediments that are likely to militate against the smooth running of any unit in the country.

It is in the light of the above that, the organization is appealing to the president to as a matter of urgency appeal to the conscience of the IGP to ensure his outfit works properly and efficiently.

SNFL's petition was contained in a letter dated May 8, 2023, which letter was copied to the Minister of Interior, Minister of Defence, the National Security Minister, the Chief of Defence  Staff, and the Director of the National Intelligence Bureau and copied to Soireenews.com is requesting the president to call the Inspector General of Police(IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to order.

According to Mr. Appeakorang, since his assumption of office as the IGP, the integrity of the service kept tumbling therefore calling for urgent steps to redeem the image of the service was in place.

Mr. Appeakorang disclosed, "I have keenly followed the work of the Ghana Police Service since the current Inspector-General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare assumed office, I discovered the integrity of the service is dwindling".

He stressed that current events in the service, including recruitment,
promotion, and interdiction of officers; the involvement of officers in crime;  the inhumane and unprofessional interactions of officers with the general public, left much to be desired.
The sad situation, he decried is crippling the service.

"I say this as a victim of injustice, and ready to reduce evidence to prove my case", the disappointed leader cried out.

Furthermore, the SNFL leader could not understand why the IGP seems to have relegated officers to the background while taking up the performance of duties including directing traffic.

Mr. Appeakorang is availing himself to reduce evidence of being a victim.

He bemoaned what the "voiceless in society might have been subjected to by the unprofessional misconduct of officers.

"I believe this is not right and Ghanaians do not have such a superficial demeanor. As a concerned citizen, I recognize, and respect the law and the safety of all citizens.

The SNFL President describes the actions of the IGP as one that falls short of reminiscing the adage "leadership by example" adding, "This is not right, Ghanaians desire better and robust service for safety and confidence in ourselves and the various institutions. I respectfully petition your Excellency to call the Inspector-General of Police to order to ensure that he and his personnel work for the safety of all Ghanaians, especially the vulnerable, and not for their short-lived fame", he berated.
