Ghanaian television critics and a host of the Onua TV breakfast show, Captain Smart haS been called to issue an apology to the Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko by some social media users after blasting him for announcing the supposed kidnapped Takroadi woman Josephine Mensah not pregnant.

On Facebook, one social media activist, Sir Obama Pokuase, has led the campaign of making Captain Smart retract his words and apologize to the Western Regional Minister.

Sir Obama in a lengthy piece said that the ethics of journalism expects one to apologize when he or she delivers the wrong fact hence the need for him to apologize to the Minister and Ghanaians as a whole.

He wrote,” This is very embarrassing, to say the least. As someone who prides himself as a broadcast journalist, the onus lies on you to double-check whichever information you receive/intercept before running to town with it.”

He also added,” Unfortunately, your penchant for sensationalism at the expense of accurate reportage has blindfolded you from cross-checking of facts before publication.”

Others also added their comment concerning the post of Sir Obama. One Kojo Safo added,” As a journalist, you don't just make factual conclusions on issues when you don't have fact.”

Recall that, Captain Smart on one of his morning shows lambasted the Western Regional Minister for doubting the woman’s pregnancy.

Captain went ahead to accuse Hon Kwabena Okyere Darko to be sleeping with the woman hence his doubt of her pregnancy.

He continued that, Okyere Darko needed to resign immediately as Western Regional Minister after hearing the story of Josephine being pregnant.

Rumours of a missing pregnant Takroadi woman went viral and were found some days later without her pregnant belly.

Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko informed the public that Josephine was not pregnant.

Josephine after the accusation made it known to the public that she was not pregnant and her alleged kidnapping was fake.
