Confusion  Rocks New  Juaben  North NPP Constituency Secretary Stand Accused
Trouble is brewing in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Juaben North Constituency of the Eastern Region over the missing of the polling station executive elections nomination forms.

There was confusion Saturday morning at the New Juaben North constituency office of the NPP after executives of the party failed to open nomination for the polling station elections.
Over one hundred members of the party became stranded at the party office which was locked denying them the opportunity to pick forms to contest at the polling station level.

Some angry NPP members alleged that has been the modus operandi of the constituency executives and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Nana Adjei Boateng over the years as part of the grand scheme.

They alleged that the forms end up in the hands of family and friends of the executives preventing others from contesting.
The angry members of the party called on the national Executives to query one Simon Tawiah who is in charge of the election why he intentionally locked the party office when the nomination opens on Friday, February 19, 2022.

The stranded members have therefore called on the NPP’s general secretary John Boadu to swiftly intervene to avert clashes since they will resist all attempts to deny them from contesting.
They also threatened to injunct the polling station election in the constituency if their grievances are not addressed immediately.
There has been a mad rush for the picking of nomination forms for the polling station elections in parts of the Eastern Region Saturday.

Meanwhile, the group calling itself, the Concerned NPP Youth in New Juaben North noted that they are highly disappointed in the response of the constituency secretary "if indeed what we read as his responsibility for them not opening the party office is coming from his office."
The group in a press statement signed and issued by the leadership of the group in the persons of the Chairman Hopeful of Chief Palace A Polling Station, Mr Agbolo Nartey Isaac and Former Polling Station Secretary of SDA Church-Asokore
Kankam Twumasi Daniel and copied to Soireenews.com stated emphatically that the constituency secretary and his Polling Station Elections Committee (PSEC) have no respect and regard for the modalities the party set up as far as picking of Polling station nomination forms is concerned.

The statement pointed out that in a memo addressed to the Regional Chairmen, Secretaries and Chairmen of the Polling Station and Electoral area Coordinators Elections, National Chairman and General Secretary on further directives on opening and closing of Polling station nominations, dated on the 14th February 2022 and signed by Hon. Evan's Nimako, the party made it so emphatic that Polling station nominations forms would be picked on  February 19th - 21st February 2022 so why then do they want to set up their own rules and regulations for the picking of nominations forms?

By setting the records straight, the statement asserted that the constituency secretary and his Polling Station Elections Committee have no locus to change the directives the party at the national headquarters has set since their modalities supersede that of everybody's parochial interest.

"We would also like to put it on records that the fact that the constituency was called upon to submit its election plan doesn't mean that they can do anything contrary to that of the guidelines the Director for Research and Elections, Hon. Evans Nimako signed and disseminated  nationwide
"In addition to the above, we want to ask the constituency secretary that when the constituency Polling Station Election plan was drawn out at the Polling Station Elections Committee meeting, did he even bother himself to let all stakeholders involved in this Polling Station elections, specifically the entire NPP fraternity in the constituency get hold of the scheduled dates for their version of the dates for the picking of nominations forms? Virtually No!," the statement explained.
The statement pointed out that "Because of this we see this as a deliberate and a calculated attempt by the constituency executives and their Polling Station Elections Committee to prevent party faithful and loyal Patriots who are ready to serve and work for the party in elections 2024 from picking their nominations forms and rather fix their relatives in the electoral college album so that they can vote for them to retain their various positions again without thinking of the wellbeing and the strength of the party ahead of elections 2024."
"We are also fully aware that nomination forms have been given to certain people who are relatives and close allies of the current constituency leadership so that those people will go unopposed and in their bid for another term as constituency executives, those people will vote for them.
"Lastly we would like to say that we would exhaust all legal avenues available to us as far as picking of nominations are concerned and yet still if we don't get the nomination forms, then we will advise ourselves accordingly," the statement concluded.
