The Divisional Chief (Mantse) of Kokrobite, a fishing community in the Ga South Municipality under the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Ofei III, has stated that he and kinsmen have vehemently rejected the practices of the Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) and described the same-sex marriage as an abomination to the traditions and customs of the Ga State.

According to the traditional office holder, he and his elders including the traditional priests and priestesses would invoke curses of the powerful Ga Dangbe river deities and shrines on anybody or institutions who endorses and practice a same-sex relationship in the enclaves of Kokrobite in the Ga State.

The overload of the Kokrobite stressed that they would never allow the practices of same-sex marriage in Kokrobite and vowed to arrest and punish anybody or institutions caught performing a same-sex relationship in the area.

Nii Ofei III pointed out they have had first-hand information last two weeks that there are Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender, Queer and Intersex advocates at Kokrobite, Bortianor, Oshyie and Langma.

He stated that they were told that these criminals are having meetings in various secret areas including the beaches at Kokrobite and Bortianor and that Kokrobite traditional warrior (Asafo) groups would soon embark on house cleaning exercises to clamp down these criminals.

"The Bortianor and Kokrobite with their serene environment, relatively clean, and pristine sandy beaches, have become popular coastal meeting places for these criminals, we are being told so we are ready to deal with them," he furth stressed.

"I swear by my chieftaincy tool that Kokrobite would be no go zone area for the gays and lesbians in the Ga State and that we are not going to allow what happened in  Kwabenya Traditional area in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region to be repeated in Kokrobite, Bortianor, Oshyie and Langma,' Nii Ofei III angrily said.

The traditional chief reiterated that the chiefs and traditional leaders will form an alliance to ensure that we immediately stop the Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex persons from coming to our areas."

He further sounded a strong word of warning to the owners of the beaches of Bortianor and Kokrobite that they would incur the wrath of the traditional authorities and original owners of the Bortianor and Kokrobite lands should they allow the gays and lesbians to use their facilities for their meetings or hiding places.

Nii Ofei III who made this known in an interview with Soireenews on Monday, October 11, 2021, stated that the disaster would befall anybody who would engage in the practices of gay and lesbian or same-sex marriage in the country.

He stressed that the Almighty God is against the practices of same-sex marriage, adding that it is against God's creation tradition on reproduction and a multitude of humans.

He said, after God created Adam he realized the woman was the best for him and so he created a woman from the rib of Adams to best the combination for Him (God).

According to him, the country would incur God's wrath should the government of Ghana accept the continuous practices of gays and lesbians and support the passage of the LGBTQ Bill into law.

He cited the June 3, 2015, explosion at a GOIL fuel station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra resulted in the deaths of over 150 persons and left many others injured as the typical sign of the punishment God has meted to one of the places used to practice the activities of gay and lesbian in Accra.

According to him, they had a tip-off about a meeting the group held last two weeks and had to take such action because that day was sacred for the community which makes their meeting an abomination on the land.

He noted that the elders of the area will not accept that development since their action is against the laws of the country, adding that they won’t allow such an abomination to go on in their vicinity.

“We won’t sit down for Kokrobite to get a bad name that the Kokrobite is currently the meeting grounds for Gays and Lesbians. No way. We don’t need them here, they should just leave here because it is an abomination,” he warned.
