Former MCE for Akatsi South Condemns NPP, NDC Politics Of Personality Comparisons
Leo-Nelson Adzidogah, Former MCE for Akatsi South.
THE FORMER Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South in the Volta Region, Mr Leo-Nelson Adzidogah, has condemned in no uncentain term the continuous practices of the executives of both ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) to engage in the politics of personality comparisons in the country which he stressed is not the best way to develop the nation.

He could not fathom why immediately after the elections of the current NDC National Executives, certain personality comparisons by the political actors dominate the social media discussions.
According to him, these discussions are political in every form. Each party wants to demonstrate the strength of their executives.
He noted that while the NPP focuses on the strength of their affected executives, the NDC focuses on their weakness.

In the same vein,  he added that while the NDC sees their Executives as possessing the strength to prosecute election successfully, the NPP focuses on their weaknesses.
"The question is, are the political parties going into personality contest in 2024 or contest of ideas and superior strategy?, he rethorically asked.
Added that "Obviously, we are going to demonstrate our ideas supported by the appropriate strategy which will involve vibrant communication, a well packaged and targeted message, teamwork, people centred plans and programmes especially, social intervention initiatives and many others to win."

He mentioned that other important issues for the voter is the general administration of politics by the parties; how the parties carry themselves during the electioneering.
According to Mr Adzidogah, individual voters have their choices and preferences. Some may like aggressive political campaign dominated by threats, insults, propaganda and other offensive political conducts.
For instance, he noted that the newly elected National Chairman of NDC, Mr. Asiedu Nketia has already indicated a politically violent conduct during the 2024 General Elections by saying that they are ready to sacrifice their lives for their party in order to win the election. Politically, this message is scary and portends evil schemes ahead of the 2024 elections.
He pointed out that that other voters may also like the type of politics devoid of threats, insults, propaganda and non politically offensive behaviour. For example, the NPP vehemently condemned the statement by the National Chairman of NDC.
He said that it is therefore important for any serious political party to win these groups of voters to carry the day. All these depend on the choice of the appropriate strategy.
"Whether somebody has so many years of experience or not, the game is about strategy. The players in the game are the Presidential Candidate, Parliamentary Candidate, National Executives, Regional Executives, Constituency Executives, Area Coordinators and the Polling Station Executives.
"Strategic deployment of these players will determine their performance in the game and consequently the outcome. Their coordination to play as a team to deliver is a matter of strategic approach as they have critical roles to play for their party to win at the end of the day," he stated.
Mr Adzidogah maintained that the NPP is well known for its political strategies to prosecute elections and win but not to use threats and intimidation.
In this modern age and time, he asserted that the politicking has become a civilised tools used to capture power. Intimidation, threats and violence have pushed politicking into the realm of uncivilised cultural behaviour.

According to him, all politicians must learn to tone down and employ civilised and cultured language to persuade voters.
In conclusion therefore,he  Adzidogah stressed that appropriate strategic direction is critical ingredient in winning any election.
