The two persons involved in the explosion have been taken to the regional hospital.

A fuel tanker with registration number GE 1751-14 has exploded killing one (1) person at Magazine in Wa in the Upper West region.

The fuel tanker which was sent for welding exploded leading to the death of one and injuring another person who is in critical condition at the Upper West regional hospital.

Narrating the incident by an eyewitness to the media, a driver who was at the scene for servicing of his car is one Mr Yahaya, said parts of the tanker was detected leaking and as the welder was repairing affected parts, all of a  sudden “I heard noise ‘gbum,’ the explosion sound and I saw one of the welders thrown by the explosion to the ground whiles the other  also fell inside."

"The one who fell outside died at the spot and the other got burnt,” Mr Yahaya said.

The eyewitnesses account gave the name of the deceased as Issahaku and he was aiding his boss called master Zuberu in refixing the leaking areas of the tanker.

According to the narrations, master Zuberus’ whole skin has been burnt off including his hair and that it was the intervention of onlookers who rescued him out of the tanker after he was trapped inside the tanker.

Meanwhile, the two persons have been taken to the regional hospital.
