Information available to Soireenews.com indicates that the GIS officers at the Akanu Border Post at Dodze, Volta Region, impounded some items believed to have been smuggled from Togo into Ghana.

Allegations have surfaced against Ghana Immigration Service and Customs officials at the Akanu Border Post, following their refusal to hand over some smuggled items,  Soireenews.com has gathered.

Information available to Soireenews.com indicates that the GIS officers at the Akanu Border Post at Dodze, Volta Region, impounded some items believed to have been smuggled from Togo into Ghana. 

The smuggled goods, according to sources, are supposed to be in the possession of the custom officials as they are in charge of the goods, while immigration is in charge of passports and documentation.

The impounded goods in the custody of the Ghana Immigration Officers include: 200 gallons of vegetable cooking oil, 20 bags of rice, 20 bags of sugar, and 10 bags of white flour.

According to our sources, the immigration officers allegedly collected GH¢1,000 from each of the owners of the goods before effecting the arrest.
 Additionally, three of the six tricycles (aboboya) impounded had registration numbers M-22-GE 6238, M-23-VD 464, and M-21-VR-1901, while the remaining three did not have registration numbers.

The sources also revealed that the above-mentioned goods were seized alongside six tricycles also known as "aboboya." The issue is awaiting further investigations.
