The former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Prestea Huni Valley Constituency of the Western Region who doubles as the Chairperson for Minerals Commission of Ghana, Mrs Barbara Oteng Gyasi is seeking for re-election to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the parliamentary election in the area for the 2024 general elections.
To affirm that constitutional mandate, the former hardworking female legislator has 
filed her nomination forms and other necessary electoral documents at the NPPs office in Prestea Huni Valley on Wednesday August 9, 2023 as she seeks to become the NPP’s parliamentary candidate ahead of the NPP orphan constituency primaries.
She was received by the party’s elections Committee who promised her there would be any sort of any disqualifications or whatsoever since all her material were correct and had nothing wrong.
Addressing the journalists after she submitted her forms, the former MP believes that she is the right candidate for the ruling NPP at the constituency to reclaim the seat they lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2020 polls. 
Mrs Gyasi claimed that per the social and infrastructure intervention developmental projects and programmes she has done in the constituency during her tenure as the Member of Parliament says it all that, she is the best among her competitors ahead of the party's parliamentary candidate primaries. 
Mrs Gyasi noted that she gave NPP constituency  executives eleven (11) motor bikes to carry their activities as part of  her contribution to the restructuring of the party in the constituency.
