Kindly concentrate on license, road worthy check - MTTD officials told
MTTD inspecting driver's document

The Offinso Branch manager for Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr Erasmus Baah has given a wake-up call to officers of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) who normally stand on roads, to prioritize the checking of license, roadworthy and all other necessary credentials of drivers, other than any other thing.

According to him, even though DVLA officials could do their best to issuing a befitting document to drivers, but some recalcitrant drivers could jump from their stage to other non recommended stages.

"To avoid recalcitrant drivers who put aside their license B cars, and jump to drive license D and E etc cars, there's the need for police officers on the road to do such strict checks. Licenses and roadworthy documents must always receive regular checks to avoid any disaster.

Drivers who are recommended for the lower class cars like taxis, minibuses, cross country cars etc can't jump to drive any higher cars like heavy goods carrying vehicles and buses," he said.

He finally advised the MTTD to avoided receiving money from drivers than to inspect their document as some Ghanaians access them for bribery.

Mr Erasmus Baah revealed that before someone acquires a license, there is always a thorough text conducted by the DVLA such as eye checks, driving expertise, health status check etc.

He informed that age is normally considered before someone could be given a license.

"Children below the age of eighteen can't be given a license. And licenses can't be acquired on someone's behalf as speculated. Unless the person comes to the scene, no one acquires for him or her". He said.

The DVLA manager finally urged drivers to always make sure they are recommended with a license from the necessary authorities before they operate.
