The Deputy General Secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahene has alleged that the Member of Parliament for the Kintampo North Constituency, Joseph Kwame Kumah has a record of a criminal conviction and that the party is seeking to challenge his legitimacy to hold an honourable office in Ghana’s parliament.

Though hesitant to give some detail on the matter, Nana Obiri Boahene alleged that the evidence as gathered by the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate who lost the election to MP, Michael Sarkodie Baffoe is mindboggling and cannot be denied by the embattled MP.

Speaking in an interview to media, Nana Obiri Boahen indicated that though the matter has not been reported to the legislative committee of the party, they have learned of the move by the candidate and his lawyers to contend the seat and get the MP disqualified.

“The information that we’ve gathered is that the MP has a history of conviction. Our candidate had taken that up. We are going after him.

“If it happens to be true…especially when it's about dishonesty, he would be dropped,” he stated.
