Manchester United have reaffirmed their commitment to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite criticism at the manager.

The Vice-chairman of the club, Ed Woodward insists the Norwegian is on a positive path towards the development of the club and he will be provided with the needed support to make Manchester United great.

His words were contained in the Premier League club's first-quarter financial results, which showed an operating loss of £27.1million.

The financial details were mistakenly made public on Thursday evening due to a blunder from the US-based publisher of United's regulatory statements, talkSPORTS reports.

“On the pitch, while there is still hard work ahead to achieve greater consistency, we remain absolutely committed to the positive path we are on under Ole as the team continues to develop,” said Woodward.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under intense scrutiny due to his side’s lack of consistency in winning games. The Red Devils sit on the 14-position of the Premier League table after seven matches having already lost to Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Arsenal in the Premier League and are yet to win a Premier League home game.

Their loss to Istanbul Baseksehir in the Champions League speculated that Manchester United are in talks with former Spurs coach, Mauricio Pochettino as replacement.

They are top of their Champions League Group with having won two games after three.
