Manhean Oechler Presby Pastor, Session In Fresh Trouble As Presbytery Investigates Them
A five-member in-house Committee of Enquiry has been set up by the Ga West Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) to investigate some disturbing issues threatening the PCG, Oechler Congregation, Manhean Sub-District.

This was announced in a letter dated May 10, 2023, from the Ga West Presbytery to Rev. Philip Nii Annan-Nai of the PCG, Eternity Congregation, appointing him as the Chairperson of the Committee, which letter is in possession of Soireenews.com.
Signed by the Clerk off the Presbytery, Rev. Joseph Kofi Antwi (PhD), copies of the letter are given to the Chairperson of Presbytery, Session Clerk, Oechler Congregation and the aggrieved members of Oechler Congregation.

The committee was set up following media reports of the arrest of three of the members of the church by the Head of Oechler Congregation, Rev. Amon Ashie, with the full backing of his Session members.
This was after those members who were arrested had spoken against the session’s entrenched position to burry a departed Presbyterian member from the Oduman Presby Church at the small Oechler cemetery.
The session, which became infuriated by members’ disapproval of their stance, on the morning of Friday, May 15, 2023, caused the arrest of Mr. David Mintah, a member of the Property Committee is also a former Presbyter, and two Choristers—Madam Rebecca Sackey and Margaret Sackey—all in the mid-60s.
Chaired by Rev. Philip Nii Annan-Nai of the PCG, Eternity Congregation the committee has 3 weeks within which to present its report to the Presbytery.
The four other members are Rev. Michael Addoquaye Addo, Rev. David Sowateye Obli, Rev. Mrs. Rebecca F. Abladey and Mrs. Eunice Dwamena-Akoto.
Background
On Friday, May 5, 2023, the Session of the Oechler Congregation caused the arrest of three prominent members.  They were former Presbyter, Mr David Mintah, Madam Rebecca Sackey and Margaret Sackey, both Choristers of the church.
The report indicated that the Senior Presbyter of the church, Samuel Gamor, led police officers from Anya Police District Command to the houses of the three to effect their arrest.
The reason for their arrest was because they had spoken against the Session’s agenda to bury, at all cost, a dead Presbyterian member who attended Presby Church at Oduman, a town close to Manhean, at the Oechler Congregation’s small cemetery.
Meanwhile when  Soireenews.com reached Rev. Amon Ashie on his mobile, he responded: “There is no issue in my church so I cannot speak to any issue. I am not interested in any issue, and I am not the Moderator of the Presbyterian of Ghana.”
