Ras Appiah Levi, also known as Ras Caleb, is a well-known reggae musician who has called MUSIGA a cartel that forbids "outsiders" from running the show.

MUSIGA is a cartel -Ras Caleb

Ras Caleb revealed the existence of the aforementioned cartel in an interview with Graphic Showbiz following the MUSIGA elections on Tuesday, in which Highlife artist Bessa Simons won the presidency.

"I don't want to be a member of this cartel, which dates back to Diana Hopeson and Obour. For MUSIGA, I had some fantastic ideas, but it's clear that the members dislike change. I had a well-considered strategy to elevate MUSIGA, but I'll leave it where it is for the time being.

Ras Caleb previously stated that he did not believe the election to choose a new MUSIGA President, which was originally planned for Tuesday, August 8 but postponed to last Tuesday, will be free and fair in an interview with Graphic Showbiz in May of this year.

"I have been arguing that we need an impartial organization to oversee the election and its procedures in committee meetings. Due to the fact that the Ghanaian Electoral Commission does not run in elections, I have been asking for an interim management committee. All they do is hold elections.

"They don't also compile the voter registration list. Because of this, I believe Bessa Simons, the acting president of MUSIGA, shouldn't serve as both a judge and a competitor simultaneously.

The conflict of interest arises since, as part of his job, he will oversee the assembly of the voter list to be provided to the election committee established by MUSIGA, he claimed at the time.

First Vice President Rev. Dr. Yawson, Second Vice President Abena Ruthy, General Secretary S. K. Agyemang, National Treasurer Rev. Eyison, National Welfare Officer Rev. Gifty Ghansah, and National Organiser Chizzy Wailer are the other elected officials.
