National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Project Abandoned
Borehole

A mechanized borehole project in the Konkua Daliga community in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region has been abandoned by the contractor.

The project was to provide the inhabitants with portable water for their livelihoods and has been left to rot.

Speaking with the Assemblyman for the Konkua Daliga community, Hon. Anabia Solomon Asampane said, the contract was awarded in October 2020 and has since not been completed to serve the purpose at which it was constructed.

He further explained that an individual offered his electrical poles to be used to test the mechanized borehole due to insufficient power supply to the machine.

Recently the pump at the site which was supposed to help the community has been disconnected by the contractor without any reason.

Residents told Soireenews that the mechanized borehole was promised to serve the CHIPs compound in the community following their lack of water for work yet health workers walk to fetch water for their daily activities due to the challenges they are facing regarding the borehole.

They have appealed to the NPA, financiers of the project and the government come to the aid of the community.
