Mr. Richard Amegbo who hails from Joma in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality with many years of experience in farming has been adjudged the overall best farmer in Weija-Gbawe in the Greater Accra Region for  2022.

Whiles Devis Otu Kornor was awarded as the best Municipal Poultry farmer despite fluid outbreak and other categories for the awards included best Municipal Woman farmer, best Municipal youth farmer and others.
They were awarded at a awards event held at the Gbawe Pig Abattoir on Friday December 2,2022.

The celebration of this year's 38th National Farmers Day was under the Theme; 'ACCELERATING AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH VALUE ADDITION."
Speaking at the programme, the Municipal Chief Executive for Weija-Gbawe, Mr. Patrick Kumor, stated that there was the need to add more value to the farm produce to attract the market  and good price and commended government for the overwhelming interventions and policies into the agriculture sector.
He indicated that this good policies in the agriculture sector has helped the country to be sufficient with food and salutes the farmers for their commitment, dedication and sacrifice to the motherland and applaud them for dear sacrifices.

The hard working MCE assured constituents that agriculture will continue to remain one of the top priorities of his administration.
He indicated that a number of investments have been made by his administration in the sector in the municipality.
The award Winner of Poultry farmer, Mr Devis Otu Kornor Ashelly used the occasion to advise the youth to take advantage of the numerous interventions and programmes of government to involve in farming activities.
