Mohamed Salah has returned another positive test for COVID-19, the Egyptian FA has confirmed.

This rules the player out of Liverpool’s clash with first placed Leicester City at Anfield on Sunday evening.

The Reds forward was confirmed to have contracted the virus whiles on international duty on Friday with Egypt in their African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The Pharaoh’s played home and away fixtures with Togo and recorded 1-0 and 1-3 home and way victories respectively to top Group G with eight points.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health was expecting a negative result before returning to England yet a third test on Wednesday proved otherwise.

He now joins Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny in self-isolation and could also be a doubt when the Reds play Atalanta on Tuesday in the Champions League.

Liverpool are already without Thiago, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson for Sunday evening’s fixture at Anfield, while Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are long-term absentees.
