The Sunyani Technical University has virtually held its 13th Congregation and Graduation ceremony for graduands of the 2019/2020 academic year who took part in the various exams conducted by the institution.

The ceremony whose first session was conducted in December last year for the First Class Bachelors from the various faculties was to induct the graduands into the business world.

Present at the ceremony were, Ing. Dr. Kwame Boakye, Council Chairman for the institution, Ing. Dr. Kwadwo Adinkrah Yeboah among other dignitaries. 

Addressing the gathering, Chairman of the Council Ing. Dr. Kwame AGyemang Boakye called on the graduands to form partnerships to help solve the unemployment challenges facing the country rather than forming an unemployment graduate association.

Reporting on the state of the institution, Vice-Chancellor Ing. Dr. Kwadwo Adinkrah Yeboah indicated that, the institution is engaging in series of stakeholder consultations with the Regional Health Directorate on its intentions to join the various medical gurus working hard to help manage the COVID-19 virus.

He however called on the government to consider connecting the ten (10) Technical Institutions in the country to the ECG free Wi-Fi internet program to enable them to strengthen their efforts during the COVID-19 era.

This ceremony was organized for the Higher National Diploma (HND) and other non-tertiary graduands for the 2019/2020 academic year who completed their programs of study, for the award of certificates in various fields

The ceremony presented a total of 1,381 graduands for the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) and other Non-Tertiary certificates in Engineering, TVET, Applied Science and Technology, Applied Arts, as well as Business and Management disciplines.

Out of the graduating list, 852 (61.7%) were males, whilst 529 (38.3%) are females. In terms of distribution according to classes, 117 (8.5%) obtained First Class, 703 (50.9%) obtained Second Class Upper, 522 (37.8%) obtained Second Class Lower, and 39 (2.8%) obtained Pass.

Distribution in terms of the type of discipline indicates that Engineering, Science and Technology, TVET and Applied Arts programs recorded a total of 800 (57.9%) of total graduands, compared with Business programs which recorded 581 (42.1%) of the graduating class.
