Atletico played out from the back with the press only commencing around the halfway line. They initiated crosses to enter the area but the Moskva team cleared the ball with ease.
The visitors made it extremely hard for Moskva to create anything from their initial constructed attacks with their best looking to be on the break.
Gimenez opened the scores for the Atletico in the 18-minute after a good assist by Herrera. He delivered a cross from deep on the left and José María Giménez, unmarked ten metres from goal, rose to head into the bottom corner.

The second half produced barren results despite chances for the two sides which they failed to convert.
