Atletico Madrid earned a point at Russia to trail Bayern Munich in the Champions League Group A fixture.

Gimenez goal was quickly equalled by Miranchuk to deny the Rojablancos the three points at the Lokomotiv Stadium

Atletico played out from the back with the press only commencing around the halfway line. They initiated crosses to enter the area but the Moskva team cleared the ball with ease.

The visitors made it extremely hard for Moskva to create anything from their initial constructed attacks with their best looking to be on the break.

Gimenez opened the scores for the Atletico in the 18-minute after a good assist by Herrera. He delivered a cross from deep on the left and José María Giménez, unmarked ten metres from goal, rose to head into the bottom corner.

Moskva was awarded a spot-kick six minutes later after Herrera was adjudged to have handled Smolov's delivery into the penalty area. VAR reviewed the action and confirmed the referee’s decision. Miranchuk then sent Oblak the wrong way to level the scores in the 25-minute.
