UTAG Strike: Lectures  Resumes at  University for Dev't Studies in Tamale

The strike action staged by members of the University Teachers Association of Ghana to continue press home their demands for better salaries and better working conditions came to hault after endless stakeholder consultations with the National labor mission and the association.

However, looks like this decision is not in bed with most of the members of the association as polls held in various university campuses to cancel the strike have proven so.

Soireenews paid a visit to the University of Development Studies in Tamale and it looks like lectures are in full effect but most of the students are yet to come to campus.

The visit revealed that school authorities of the University of Development Studies have reconsidered their decision by calling on students to return to campus for lectures.

During the visit, a few students were seen moving into the lectures hall.

Because of the late announcement about the resumption of classes,  lecture halls, and the campus was virtually empty as compared to normal days

Some of the students who spoke to the news team appealed to the government to adhere to the demands of the UTAG members.

According to them, they are the most affected by the strike action and not the lecturers.

Sharing their plight with Soireenews, they say their major concern is how to catch up with the academic calendar if the strike is not called off.
