Various Teacher Union Have Failed; Dr Eric Nkansah

Among other reasons, the 3 teacher unions i.e the National Association of Graduate Teachers, the Ghana National Association of Teachers, and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers say they are not happy with the appointment of the new Director General of GES Dr. Nkansah, and do not ready to work with him.

They directed all their members to lay down their tools because they believe that D.r Eric Nkansah is not an educationist so he is not fit for such an appointment. Contrary to their view, D.r Eric Nkansah started as a teacher in the year 2000 at Christian Education Complex (CEC) Junior High School, Kintampo North in the Bono East Regional capital of Ghana.

After two years of teaching at CEC, he had the opportunity to teach geography at Kintampo Senior High School as a part-time teacher from 2002-2006. In the year 2007, after he studied at the University of Cape Coast, he joined the Barclays Bank of Ghana (now Absa) where he worked for about six years and rose to the position of Sales Manager. In 2010, while working with Absa, he lectured part-time at the Garden City University College of Business School, Kumasi.

In 2012, he finally left the bank to become a full-time lecture at Kumasi Technical University and a part-time lecturer at the graduate school of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

He became a Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University. D.r Eric Nkansah in April 2021, joined the Ministry of Education as a Director in charge of Tertiary Education. During his office as a Director, he attended many educational conferences both local and international, including conferences organized by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

In academia, that is educational policy administration, D.r Eric Nkansah has over 15yrs fieldwork experience. He has published so many academic journals in peer-reviewed. He also serves in so many governing councils, including Koforodua Technical University and St. Louis College of Education.

After his appointment, his first school as a teacher (Christian Education Complex JHS) issued a congratulatory statement to him and wish him well in his new office. Instead of calling for his resignation from the various teachers union, let's all rather wish him well to work fruitfully for our homeland Ghana.

Good luck Dr. Eric Nkansah, Director of General Ghana Education Service. On this note, I respectfully urge all the teacher unions to return to the classroom and shouldn't let Ghanaian ordinary students suffer because of this matter.
