Voters’ Registration: Security Personnel are only to Ensure Orderliness – EC

Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC)  has debunked assertions that some security personnel have been 'tactically' deployed to some voters’ registration centres to intimidate residents from participating in the exercise.

According to a statement from the Commission today, the presence of these security personnel at centres are to enforce compliance to covid-19 protocols and ensure orderliness.

The EC implored Ghanaians to comply with these security officials.

The EC had in an earlier statement yesterday noted that, it will be working with security agencies to manage the incidence of overcrowding at some its polling stations.

It however urged the public to ignore some pictorial posts on social media purportedly showing “uncontrolled large crowds” at its registration centres.
