The Akuapem Mampong National Fire Service station that serves the entire Akuapen North Municipality has been relocated to Akropong, the Municipal capital,  following the request by the staff of the station to expand the block to maximize the number of offices to have enough space to operate.

The information gathered by Soireenews correspondent, William Ofori Akwaboa indicates that the immediate transition has taken the traditional council of Mampong by a surprise, after a petition to refrain the Municipality from taken such a decision proved futile.

The action by the Municipal Assembly to relocate the National Fire Service Station to Akropong has attracted the wrath of many residents and citizens of Mampong Akuapen to demonstrate against the Municipality's action.

The Spokesperson for the residents, Mr Phillip Arthur Kwabi Baidoo, stated that the idea to relocate the Fire Service Station is unfair and unjustifiable since the local government system encourages all institutions to decentralise and work at the doorstep of the people.

He told that Mampong has already secured over one thousand bags of cement for the construction of the Fire Service Administration block,  and the land for the construction of the block is also ready after delays by the circuit court over the land dispute case.

The aggrieved residents are urgently calling for the municipal assembly to rescinds its decision immediately or face the consequences in the 2024 general election, adding that the member of Parliament(MP) Nana Ama Dokua Asiamh Adjei and the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE)Barima Asiedu-Larbi are behind the relocation and shall surely pay for it.
