The Drivers who ply their daily business on Akyem Swedru to Aduasa road in the Birim South District in the Eastern Region of Ghana have embarked on a demonstration on Thursday, September 23, 2021, over the dilapidated states of roads in the District.

The demonstrators blocked the road as part of their displeasure against the District.

According to the drivers, the recent rainfall has deteriorated the entire road, making it somehow a disadvantage to users.

"Our vehicles break down frequently as a result of the deplorable nature of our road", some drivers bemoaned.

They have then called on the Birim South District Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru Hon Kennedy Nyarko Osei to facilitate the construction of these roads.

In an interview with some of the Taxi Drivers, they opined, “this morning, Akyem Swedru Aduasa Taxi Drivers Union blocked the road and demonstrated on the Swedru Presby- Aduasa road to draw the attention of Birim South District Assembly and the Akyem Swedru MP, Hon Kennedy Nyarko Osei to the bad state of the Akyem Swedru-Aduasa road.

The drivers appealed to the leaders in the BSDA to make sure the Akyem Swedru-Aduasa road is been fixed immediately, to help reduce the number of car spare parts always purchased”.
