Joan Laporta is reportedly eyeing Mikel Arteta as the next Barcelona manager.

The Arsenal boss took over from Unai Emery in December 2019 and signed a deal until 2023 for the Gunners. After a tough start of the season with Gunners, the former player managed to pull the strings to end Arsenal’s poor run in the Premier League.

The arrival of Mikel Arteta has seen the Gunners win two trophies, the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

Joan Laporta, the leading candidate in the Barcelona upcoming elections on March 7 is in love with the philosophies of the Spaniard and will look forward to working with him.

RAC1 has reported that Laporta seems not in tune with Ronald Koeman and prefers an immense change at the coaching department of the Blaugranas, and with Pep Guardiola's future committed to Manchester City, his former assistant could be the key.

Joan Laporta was previously Barca’s president between 2003 and 2010, winning 12 trophies for the club, including two Champions Leagues and four Laliga titles.

It was under his term that Frank Rijkaard was appointed as Guardiola’s replacement although his only managerial experience was with the Barcelona B.
