Ashaiman demonstration called off by police but demonstrators to take authorities by surprise.

An intended demonstration by Concerned Citizens of Ashaiman within the Greater Accra Region has been called off by the police under the pretense that they do not have the men to protect the demonstrators.

The demonstrators expressed their disgust at the Ghana Police Service (GPS) for preventing them from registering their legal rights.

Demonstration, according to one of the members of the group who identified himself as Joshua Ashaiman said the police has no right to prevent them and further added that they would bounce back.

He hinted that though it has been called off by the police, they will not relent but will do all possible to register their displeasure.

"I say though we are disappointed at the police we will bounce back", he added.

According to him, they(demonstrators) were ready as of yesterday night but they were told by the police that a directive from IGP told them to restrain the demonstrators because they do not have enough protection for the instructors.

But the demonstrators still served notice that the demonstration will come on.
Reacting to the cancellation, he added that Ashiaman is part of Ghana hence they need development.

He said until this morning, the police gave the green light for the demonstration to come on only to be called off at the last minute.

He expressed his uttermost disappointment at the turn of events and noted that it was not good for the country's democracy.

Georgina, a member also mentioned why they are not to embark on the demonstration however, roads in Ashiaman are very bad.
