Assin Central: Kennedy Agyapong wins seat for the sixth consecutive time
Mr Agyapong defeated his closest opponent Mr Nurein Shaibu Migyimah from the NDC
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin Central Constituency, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has retained the parliamentary seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Agyapong polled 19,754 votes to defeat his closest opponent Mr Nurein Shaibu Migyimah of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who got 14,747 votes.
He will be headed back to Parliament for a sixth consecutive time.
Mr Agyapong was first elected a member of parliament in 2000 to the seat of Assin North. He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2008 parliamentary elections. In 2012, he was elected in the new seat of Assin Central and was re-elected in 2016.
Presidential poll
President Akufo-Addo amassed 21,159 to win the constituency with the NDC candidate John Mahama polling 12,650 votes.
