At the Champions League final, Real Madrid demanded an explanation for "unfortunate incidents."

Real Madrid has demanded an explanation for the "series of regrettable occurrences" that occurred during the Champions League final against Liverpool on May 28 in Paris.

They also want to know why the game was held in the Stade de France and who is "responsible for abandoning and defending the supporters."

"Football has sent to the world an image that is far apart from the ideals and aims that it should seek," Real Madrid said in a statement.

The final was won by Spain with a score of 1-0.

The match was, however, delayed by more than a half-hour, and Liverpool fans complained about heavy-handed policing, organizational chaos, and overcrowding at the showpiece match, which was moved to the Stade de France from St Petersburg following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The comments by France's interior minister Gerald Darmanin, blaming English fans, were "disgraceful," according to Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan, who also said that after speaking with his Real Madrid counterpart, the Spanish club's supporters had issues.

Real Madrid announced in a statement that "unfortunate occurrences" occurred "in the vicinity of and at entrance points to the Stade de France, as well as inside the stadium itself," and that its fans were "victims of those acts."

"We'd like to know the reasons for this site being picked to host the final, as well as the criteria utilized, taking into account the day's experiences," they added.

"Furthermore, we demand answers and explanations to identify those who are guilty of abandoning and defending the fans. Fans who, in general, acted professionally at all times."

Uefa, the governing body of European football, has commissioned an independent investigation into the final.

Although it has revealed that supporters were targeted by local gangs, French authorities have blamed ticket fraud and accused Liverpool football club of failing to regulate their fans.

"We believe that what should have been a magnificent football celebration for all of the supporters who attended the game swiftly devolved into a sequence of tragic occurrences that have sparked global indignation," Real Madrid said.

"Several fans were attacked, harassed, assaulted, and robbed violently, as evidenced by the revealing photographs broadcast by the media.

"These incidents persisted as they traveled in their automobiles or buses, raising concerns about their physical safety." As a result of their injuries, some supporters had to spend the night in the hospital."

"Our fans and supporters need a response and those responsible for such events should be held accountable for such occurrences to be removed from football and sport in general," the club wrote.
