Abiana confessed that she knows background vocalists don't get the support they need no matter how good they are.

The soul-life artiste pointed to backup singers who have decided to break out on their own and explained how they've not been as successful as they should be.

She suggested an agenda against backup singers to keep them from going off on their own.

According to her research, backup singers are only loved when they work with artists or when they do as their told, they don't receive as much love when they decide to start their own group.

“I was listening to an interview where someone mentioned Yaa. And growing up listening to Kojo Antwi, she was on every song and I loved her and now she comes into the limelight and there is no support and it is crazy and it hurts me so much when I see this happening”.

This she said while speaking to Kokonsa Kester on Y107.9FM’s Weekend Rush show.

The problem she noted, stems from the way Ghana music industry has no systems in place to encourage the celebration of background artists.

“I agree perfectly well that background vocalists do not receive the credit they deserve. It is quite hurting that we are not recognised like we are supposed to because outside Ghana or abroad, there are systems that accommodate background artistes and these background artistes are celebrated as much as those they back”.

Abiana, who is calling for support for backup artists has been influenced by so many women, starting from Akosua Agyapong, Alicia Keys and her first love Celine Dion in her musical journey.

She is promoting her 2020 single Amen.
