Basic School Teachers Are Up In Arms Against GES--For Not Providing Them With Lesson Written Note Books
According to teachers, they are using parts of their meagre salary to personally buy the lesson note books since the government through the GES has woefully refused to provide the books to them, although they have been instructed by the GES to prepare the lesson notes for the students.

BILLIONS of teachers in the country's public basic schools are up in arms against the offocils of Ghana Education Service (GES) for not providing them with necessary educational teaching materials which was adversely affecting teaching and learning process in the public basic schools in the country.
According to teachers, they are using parts of their meagre salary to personally buy the lesson note books since the government through the GES has woefully refused to provide the books to them, although they have been instructed by the GES to prepare the lesson notes for the students.
"Previously, we the public basic school teachers in the country were directed by the GES to ban written of plan lesson notes for the pupils.
"But suddenly, for sometimes now, the GES has rescinded its decision to order the teachers to start writing the lesson notes to teach the children," they disclosed.
Currently, according to the teachers,they are using their own monies to buy the books to prepare the notes for the students.
He noted that "We were given computer laptops by the GES with the explanation that the laptop would have customized lesson notes on them to use to teach the children."
According to the visibly distraught teachers, we didn't understand why the GES instructed us again to write lesson notes with refusal to give us the books that we are going to use to prepare the notes.
"What is very irritating was that if we prepare the lesson notes too we are not using the notes to teach the students. Also since we have started writing the notes, even the Circuit Supervisors who serve as a link between the school, the community and the district education office didn't come to checks the notes and we think now that we are wasting our monies and times on the notes," the scores of public basic school teachers under the GES in the North District of the Volta Region complained.
The teachers who spoke on condition of anonymity in an interview with Soireenews.com noted that; "We are not saying that we not going to write the lesson notes but what we are saying was that the GES should be in its position to provide the teachers their lesson notes.
"...So that we would stop using parts of meagre salaries to buy the books," the teachers stressed.
