The Ahafo Regional Mental Health Co-Ordinator, James Gariba said, it's everyone responsibility to help the fight against Drug Abuse.

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was marked on 26 June every year, to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a world free of drug abuse.

The Theme for this year's celebration is: "Share Fact on Day, Save Lives".

The Ahafo Regional Mental Health Co-Ordinator, James Gariba in an interview with Soireenews Sulley Dramani said the canker is getting out of hand among the youth in Ahafo.
 
He said drugs like wee, cocaine, pain killers, energy drinks are the commonest in the region.

Mr James Gariba, therefore, said though the Mental Health Authority and  Narcotic Control Board is trying its best to curtail the situation every citizen has a responsibility in combating or fighting against drug abuse in society.

Mr Gariba said Patient's and community members should report their Children, Friends and colleagues who indulge in illicit drugs use to relevant authorities

 He urged Ghana Education Service to incorporate drug abuse into the school's curricula and providing incentives for abstinence, building skills to resist drug use, replacing drug-using activities with constructive and rewarding activities, improving problem-solving skills, and facilitating better interpersonal relationships.
