Footballer attempts suicide after assassinating girlfriend over cheating

A 25-year old lady, Harriet Kafui Ahiati, has purportedly been slain by his boyfriend in Ho in the Volta region.

The incident happened last night at about 10 pm when the two involved in a scuffle at the lady's home.

Reports say the mother of the deceased had traveled where the suspect went into the residence of the deceased where the serious brawl emanated.

The suspected murderer had accused the girlfriend of cheating. The deceased who has dated the suspect for 6 years however showed displeasure over the boyfriend's baseless accusations but the alleged killer, whose name is known only as Jay, a footballer, insisted on his stand with anger, where he stabbed the deceased several times to death. 

The assemblyman for the area confirmed the incident said, the culprit, attempted suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan after committing the crime.

However, the fan, fell from the ceiling leaving him a deep cut around his neck.

The assembly member said the suspected murderer is presently getting treatment at the Ho teaching hospital.

The body of the deceased has subsequently been deposited at the Ho teaching hospital morgue.

The assemblyman for the area confirmed the incident to the development adds to a string of spousal murders in recent times.

A businessman Prince Charles Dedjoe, for instance, is in police custody for allegedly killing his wife.
