Ghana Is Bankrupt Under Akufo- Addo---Ade Coker Declares
Ade Coker of the NDC
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, has berated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for not improving the lot of Ghanaians, amid the current economic hardships facing the people in this country.
Speaking on Accra-based Kingdom 107.7 FM on Friday, September 16, 2022, on crucial national issues, Mr Coker pointed out that currently the country's economy was in crisis, adding that cost of living in Ghana under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party-led Akufo-Addo government continues to soar.
The NDC kingpin cited an example of the drastic increment in the prices of water, electrify, transportations, inflation, foodstuffs, school fees, accommodations, high level of youth unemployment, stressing that “we have realised that this country was going bankrupt, sinking and going down very fast under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo."
He lamented the constant increment of prices of petroleum products, compounded with the upward increase in transportation fares in the country.
This, he added, was due to the mismanagement of the economy by President Akufo-Addo and his Economic Management Team.
"Look at the current cost of petrol; imagine if you are a transport business operator or
owner, can you afford to live in this prevailing economic hardship situation?
“…because all the works you have done for a day, you would use all the monies generated from running commercial vehicle to buy petrol and you would not get any money to feed your family. So this is a worrying situation we have found ourselves in now," Mr. Coker stated.
According to him, "if you are a transport business operator how much profit margin can you get from the fares charged commuters from moving the car to and fro, looking at the daily traffic jams in the city of Accra?.”
He indicated that the traffic situation compels commercial drivers to burn fuel and that after making a daily sale to the owner of the vehicle, he would not get anything to live on.
But, Mr. Coker was quick to indicate that at the time that former President John Dramani Mahama was running the affairs of this country, the price of petrol was GH14.00 per gallon, but currently the price of petrol was being sold GH¢ 56.00 per gallon.
He said the Akufo-Addo administration has been trumpeting the achievements of the government.
These, he mentioned, include the Free Senior High School educational policy. However, he noted that majority of Ghanaians were reeling under the current economic woes of the country.
He observed with grave concern that children of over 40,000 workers whose companies that the NPP administration collapsed were currently staying at home without schooling.
This situation, Mr. Coker intimated, was every pathetic.
According to him, the poverty situation of these parents was so high to the extent that they find it extremely difficult to pay their children’s school fees, hence the inability of their children to continue their education.
These assertion has confirmed his earlier submission he made in an interview with this reporter that every aspects of Ghanaians lives have destroyed by the NPP government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo because its mismanagement of the economic," and maintained that "This country is bankrupt.

He added that there are clear envidence currently that Ghanaians need someone like former President Dramani Mahama to win back the Presidential seat in the 2024 general elections and take Ghanaians from these suffering."
He noted that former President Dramani Mahama has many social and infrastructure intervention achievement records visibly for Ghanaians to see themselves and it has what it takes and technical know how to restructure the broken economy of this country to bring relief to Ghanaians.
