Akosom Dam Spillage Saga: Okyeman NDC Mounts Pressure On Akufo-Addo To Apologize To People Of Volta Region
According to the Abuakwa South Constituency of the NDC and some Youth Activists in the constituency at Kyebi, they had got angry at the President who is the son of the Akyem lamd because, they could not understand why President Akufo-Addo would made what they described as barbaric mocking statement when he paid a visit to the affected flood victims on the communities along the lower Volta basis after the spillage of excess water from Akosombo and Akuse dams by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

PRESIDENT Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has uncured the wrath of the supporters and members including youth activists of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Abuakwa South Constituency of the Eastern Region.
According to the Abuakwa South Constituency of the NDC and some Youth Activists in the constituency at Kyebi, they had got angry at the President who is the son of the Akyem lamd because, they could not understand why President Akufo-Addo would made what they described as barbaric mocking statement when he paid a visit to the affected flood victims on the communities along the lower Volta basis after the spillage of excess water from Akosombo and Akuse dams by the Volta River Authority (VRA).
Whilst sympathizing with the good families from the Volta Region who recently were affected by the Spillage of the Akosombo and Akuse dams, the rank and file of NDC in the Okyeman duly condemns this unforseen spectacle, the uncultured, and barbaric mocking statement from President Akufo-Addo as he paid a visit to the victims Monday October 16, 2023 in the Volta Region.
"We Sincerely apologise to that effect as
this is ancestral anathema and part of the Danquah -Busia Dombo family. It is sad to note for a president who is voted into power to make such a derogatory comments against his own Ghanaian people just because of party politics.
"We consider his statement as petty, flimsy and politically mental disorder," the Abuakwa South Constituency of the NDC said this statement signed by its Communications officer, Mr Aikins Ofori.
The NDC in the statement copied to Soireenees.com asserted that President Akufo-Addo should note that voltarians are Ghanaians who pay taxes and cannot be eliminated when it comes to national development.
"As NDC, we believes in social democracy or egalitarianism, former President John Mahama during his tenure of government provided about 156 developmental projects in the Abuakwa South Constituency with its Capital at Kyebi, we all knew that his lineage is not from the Akyem land but as visionary leader who is mature, he was able to bring developments to our doorsteps," the statement noted.
The statement continued that; "As a President, you have been an MP at Kyebi for past 12 good years not even a single development you can account for apart from you and your cronies encroaching state lands in the municipality.
Out of the 156 projects in your Abuakwa South Constituency former President Mahama, has provided the multi - water plant system situated at kyebi which separated some akyem people from drinking with other species.
The former President Dramani, according to the statement by the NDC in the constituency initiated and completed Multi - Complex EducationAl Unit situated at kyebi, built Fire service office and provided fire thunders at Kyebi.
The statement disclosed that former President Dramani has done many projects in the constituency including the construction of
4) CHPS Compound at Potorase and Wirenkyi Amanfrom, Construction of Kyebi township roads under Cocoa roads; Abontidonhene street, Ampabene Street, Nana Yeboah Avenue I and II streets, Zongo township roads, Kyebi Newtown roads, Kuntukuruku streets
These were all under bitumen and surfacing," the statement noted.
On the education fronts, the former President has constructed some schools in the constituency including the construction of 6- unit classroom block for Kibi School for the deaf, construction of 3 - unit classroom block for Kibi Islamic JHS., construction of Kindergarten block at Kyebi - Obronikrom, construction of Assembly Hall at Abuakwa State College and the construction of boys Dormitory at Asiakwa SHS.
The rest are the construction of girls dormitory at Asiakwa SHS., construction of Pavilion Dinning Hall at Asafo SHS, construction of 6 - unit classroom block at Asafo SHS,
construction of 4NO 2 Unit staff Quarters at Asafo SHS, construction of 6 - Unit classroom block at Asafo SHS, construction of another 6 - unit classroom block at Asafo SHS, construction of boys dormitory at Asafo SHS, construction of Girls dormitory at Asafo SHS, and construction of Administration block at Asafo SHS.
The statement added that the former President has also donated 2 vehicles Mahendra and a bus to Asafo SHS.
"Time and space will not permit me to list all projects under the reign of John Mahama in Akuffo -Addo's constituency on developments in basic schools and other sectors.
It is unprecedented!
We are today daring President Akuffo-Addo do to same and stop his barbaric, enthinocentric comments he is moving around with.
"Secondly, where in Akyem land did Mahama complain like this with such tribal comments?
We quite remember prior to the 2020 elections, some leaders with such hereditary barbaric statement said same to President Mahama to the extent of preventing him campaigning at Kyebi," the statement said.
According to the statement,President's Akufo-Addo recent statement has shown that there's is a hereditary trends of uncultured, rude , ethnocentric, and hoodlum's behavior of some Akyem elements in government and this time around will not tolerate them any more.
The statement noted that the NDC has never won in Kyebi before as the difference in 2020 elections were 31, 424 as against NDC of just 7, 853 but not a single development for you to be accounted for.
The NDC stressed that "Your only Key achievement is for galamsey to be the headquarters at Kyebi and encroachment of state lands.
The party stated that President Akufo-Addo has indeed being a true specimen of failure hence we will not sit down for such unwarranted and ethnicentric politics from an indigene person from the Akyem -land this time.
The NDC vowed that they will not sit down aloof and fold up our arms for you as a President to continue to disgrace the good image of Okyeman.
