Anointed Electrical Technical Institute has emerged winner of the 2024 Farm Radio International and WUSC Invest In Her Quiz Competition.

The stiff challenge was organized by Farm Radio International in conjunction with World University Services of Canada (WUSC) for Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) schools.

Accra Technical Institute (ATI) came second, Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI) came third while Afienya Technical Institute (ATI) took the fourth position, Fifth was Accra Technical Training Institute (ATTI) with the sixth position being carried by Teshie Technical Institute (TTI).

The Invest In Her initiative was developed to whip up the interest of female students to choose a trade-in course such as welding, and electrical engineering amongst others.

Explaining the motive behind the initiative, Rosetta Atiso, the Project Manager disclosed that the initiative forms part of measures to sensitize female students on the significance of venturing into male-dominated trades.

Running journalists through the journey so far, Ms Atiso was optimistic that the Invest project would facelift the standard of most females.

She, however, added that the pilot phase of the project has considered only three cities:Accra, Takoradi, and Kumasi but was hopeful that the next phase will see an expansion.

The demystifying the myth that encompasses male-dominated courses and career paths.

As part of the comprehensive project, female professionals in the field were engaged to demystify the myths and fears of female students.

She explained further that the engagement of a female as a quiz mistress was a testament to the conviction of the project.

Engaging an Engineer, she observed was also a way of encouraging the students to attain higher heights. 

Ms Atiso was quick to add further that the Invest In Her initiative targets female students who have an interest in electricals, welding, and other male-dominated trades.

The quiz competition, being the end of the third season, will see some well-deserved students receiving cash prizes.

Talking about the sustainability footprint of the project, Ms Atiso noted that subsequent years will envisage an expansion in the scope of schools from the current three.

The current three schools were settled upon based on the project objectives as a pilot.
