A heavy rainstorm that poured at Assin Ochiso in the Assin South District of the Central Region around noon, has left in its wake, glaring signs of massive destruction in the town.

The rain, which lasted for almost four hours, ripped off buildings and destroyed items, ranging from household appliances such as televisions, fridges, and mattresses to food among other physical materials.

The hundreds of residents, who have been rendered homeless, could not help, but sheds uncontrollable tears as they counted their losses after the heavy rain.

Even though no life was lost, two children who were severely got injured as a result of a falling object from the roof were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The affected victims have called on the Assembly, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and other organizations to come to their rescue for support. 

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Director of Assin South, Mr. Emmanuel Kwabena Brewu, and a team of NADMO officials visited the area to ascertain the extent of the damage. 

He said 23 households were affected with hundreds displaced and are working to get the people some relief items for their survival whiles measures are in place to help the affected victims.

He used the opportunity to appeal to residents to allow NADMO to demolish weak buildings before they caused any havoc to the lives and properties in the area.
