Immigration officer killed at gun point in Wa

An Immigration service personnel with the Operation Conquest Fist (OCF), at the Hamile detachment in the Upper West Region, Michael Otu has been gun down by unknown assailants.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the officer had six gunshots from the rear by his attackers who are suspected to be smugglers, says the Service.

In a press statement signed by the Upper West Regional Public Relations Officer of the Immigration Service, Mr. Ibn Yussif Abdul-Mumin Seidu said, his body was found under a bridge after the incident.

The remains of the deceased, according to the statement have been deposited at the St. Theresa's Catholic Hospital awaiting Doctor's report.

Today, Tuesday, 22ND March 2022, at about 1815HRS, the Nandom Command picked information that an Immigration Service Personnel was shot dead at Kokoligu, a village between Nandom and Hamile. The Command hurriedly went to the crime scene and saw the fallen patriot dead and in a pool of blood.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the officer had had six gunshots from the rear by his attackers largely suspended to be smugglers. It was further established that the fallen officer might have had a struggle with his assailants preceding his slain. His body was hidden under a bridge whilst his motorbike and helmet were found some 100 meters away from the remains.

It was further revealed that his weapon was taken away from him by his assailants. In the company of the Hamile Defence Intelligence and the Police Commander, the body of AICO I Michael Otu was deposited at the St. Theresa's Catholic Hospital awaiting Doctor's report.

The said officer (AICO I Michael Otu) is with the Operation Conquest Fist (OCF) at the Hamile detachment and was for night duty on the Ghana Burkina Faso border to serve his Homeland when he met his untimely death.
While we call for calm, together with the Defense Intelligence and Police, all efforts in the pursuit of the perpetrators cum their modus operandi behind the callous killing of this selfless Patriot is a necessity. We call on anyone with positive leads to volunteer same to allow justice to take its course. We shall leave no stone unturned in pursuit of the perpetrators of this barbaric incident. They may run but they can't hide!
