Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has hailed Manchester United as the best team in England in terms of history.

Guardiola stated this while addressing the media on Friday afternoon, May 24, 2024, ahead of their FA Cup final this weekend.

It will be the second year in a row that both Manchester teams will face each other for the trophy.

And although City are widely regarded as favourites, Guardiola has called for United to be respected.

He said: “We respect a lot of United. Always it’s been like that since I arrived for their history.

“In the last decade, we have been better, but in terms of history it’s the best team in England.

"For that you have to of course respect them massively. What they feel, I don’t know because I’m not there.”

Ten Hag's future as United boss is in doubt, even if he wins the FA Cup on Saturday. Reports reveals that the club are assessing other candidates including Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna after a season which has seen United finish eighth in the Premier League and miss out on a place in the Champions League.

Ten Hag has blamed a lot of his problems on injuries which have decimated his squad and Guardiola insists the most pressing issue for United is to work out why they have had so many issues.
