Minority caucus calls for an extension of SIM card registration to December

Several other people are struggling to register for their Ghana cards let alone register their SIM cards.

The Minority caucus of Parliament has called for an extension of the SIM card registration to  December 2022.

According to the Minority, several other people are struggling to register for their Ghana cards let alone register their SIM cards.

The Minority's comment follows a trip they claimed to have taken to various registration centers including the National Identification Authority Headquarters showing a horrifying scene as many have queued to register.
The Minority fears impede at the registration centers following the overcrowding of registrants the centers.


Addressing the parliamentary press corpse, the Ningo Prampram Member of Parliament, Honourable Samuel Nartey George observed that his side is against illegal attempts by the NIA and cohort to cut several subscribers who are permitted by law to use their SIM cards to transact businesses.


The Minority is against what it termed as an illegally carrying out of a legal mandate enshrined by law in compilingroper biometric data to disenfranchise Ghanaians.
They vehemently demand an extension of the deadline to at least December.


They further stated that the action of the NIA and Communication and Digitalization Ministry should as a matter of urgency desist from engaging in illegality by legislation that has the potential of removing reliable Ghanaians from the database.
