A windstorm has hit Kokormu, a farming community in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region of Ghana, and has raided off many houses.

The calamity happened on Friday 12th February 2021.

About 30 homes have been demolished by the storm disaster living more than 40 homeless, acres of plantain and banana farms have also been destroyed.

Opanin Danso, one of the affected farmers who spoke to SN24 reporter William Ofori on phone said the unexpected windstorm has destroyed his over GHC4000, 14 acres’ banana plantation.

The farmers claimed they had never come across such a storm during early February.

Farmers who spoke with this portal expressed shock at the windstorm claiming "this is unusual, it's unprecedented. We have decided not to raise plantain and banana farms again because a lot of money has gone into our demolished farms”.

They have however called on the government and all wealthy individuals for financial support.
