National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Officer in Kade Constituency of the Eastern Region, Mr Godfred Bonsu, has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Addo-Addo to impress upon the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr John Abu Jinapor to order the anti- galamsey task force to stop burning of the seized equipment of the illegal small scale miners.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews on Friday, April 30, 2021, Mr Bonsu stated that he fully supports the fight against illegal mining yet burning of seized equipment to a number of 127 Changfans, 9 excavators and a fuel pump is highly unacceptable.

He asked that "Couldn't we have used these equipment to benefit the state? Hon. Minister, these excavators could have been used to clean our gutters in our cities. We could have given these 127 chan fans to Farmers. Why are we burning them?

He fumed that the burning of their equipment is so wrong.

He stated that "Hon., Don't fight a problem by creating new ones.I humbly ask that you review your orders of burning and resort to assembling all seized equipment."
