Former Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger says Paris Saint Germain lost to Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals at the Parc de Princess because they were too ‘emotional and stupid.’

The manager who was on BT Sports as a pundit blamed the hosts’ defence for conceding so poorly to the English club after leading by a goal.

Paris Saint Germain gave up their one-goal lead in the first half scored by captain Marquinhos as Pep Guardiola’s side recovered in the second half to hit them with two goals; Kevin De Bruyne's and a sublime Mahrez free-kick.

The French Champions ended the game with 10-men after a late tackle by Iddrisu Gueye on Ikay Gundogan to be given marching orders.

According to the Arsenal legend, his home side lost the game because they were not physically capable to match Manchester City.

“From the defenders turning their back, it’s between Paredes and Kimpembe. Why do you lie a guy on the ground if the guys in the wall open the wall?

“I personally believe that the second goal is not acceptable for that level. It's not the first time we see players turning their back and City took advantage of that.

“But I must say in the second half PSG were protective and not progressive any more. Is it because they were not physically capable?

“After the 1-1, they collapsed completely. They become emotional and aggressive in a stupid way.”

PSG will visit the Etihad on Tuesday and seek to turn the game around.
