SHS new enrollment; traders bare teeth with school authorities for snatching their businesses

Traders in the Berekum Central Market in the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region are allegedly accusing some schools authorities of the sales of prospectus items to parents and students in their various schools.

In an interview with some of the traders, they claimed the situation is very disturbing especially when they have brought in new items for the parents and students to buy.

“We have restocked our shops hoping to break even during the new admission period but little did we know that some teachers have been selling items to students at high prices”, they claimed.

According to the traders, they are paying taxes to the government and the alleged school authorities are not doing so, hence making huge profits at the expense of the government and parents.

They are therefore calling on the government to intervene in the situation to prevent them from taking hash decisions.

They have however threatened to close their shops and leave it to those school authorities to take over their trade in the area if nothing is done about the situation.

They also called on the President Nana Akufo Addo to take the necessary actions against such school authorities so that they will not temper with the government's free SHS policy.
